What is a British international school?

Why are public schools becoming increasingly popular today? In the modern world, one of the keys to success, regardless of a career you choose, is a quality education. It is not just a question of mastering  a profession or obtaining a degree at a university or college. A full-fledged and multifaceted education begins at a very early age, in kindergarten or lower secondary school. It is very important to learn English, which helps your daughter or son enter the best national and international universities, as well as enables them to get a high-paying job.

Unfortunately, not all pre-schools and schools provide a high level of tuition. Let alone the level of teaching English, an international language. Children have to spend a lot of time on additional language courses. At the end of the day,it is not worth the effort, time and money. Still, there is an alternative and more effective solution, and this is a British International School in Ukraine.

What makes us different from other schools? The main difference is that we teach the National Curriculum for England and f  offer all the benefits of bilingual education. Above focusing on students’ academic achievements, we aim to discover   their talents and knack for sciences or the arts, as well as help them acquire l important soft skills they will need as adults. After finishing a private English school, students will obtain either an International Baccalaureate diploma or a Ukrainian secondary education certificate or both. .Our diplomas enable students to enter a university of their choice, either in Ukraine or beyond.

Learning experience at a British International School

BISU offers children the opportunity to start school  at the age of 3 and admits students until 18. The youngest candidates are enrolled in nursery school at BISU. At the age of 3 they start learning English.. Our nursery programme is age appropriate to make sure that children are not stressed or burdened – they learn through play. Contact the British International School by phone for information on Kindergarten fees and payment

When children turn 4 years old, they start  Reception-.,We offer a very thought out programme,  so that young students can adapt to the school environment, acquire basic knowledge and skills, and socialise in groups.

Five year olds go to Year 1 f at the British International School. The applicant’s level of knowledge is also taken into account.. For subsequent grades,=Children applying for admission to Year 1 are required to have an interview with the Principal and/or the Head of School. Reviewing an applicant’s eligibility, we look at the current/prior school records. Students have the same holidays as those at state schools.

We offer f opportunities for children with special needs to study in a British private school. If a child needs a special approach, the decision about his/her enrolment is made by Principal.. Your child will have an with a specialist who  will give provide a professional advice on how your child should study at school.

Tuition fees

To check the cost of studying at British International School in Kyiv and Dnipro, you can contact us by phone. If you are based y in these cities, you can visit the schools and get the information you need from the administrators.

Bear in mind that in the British International School tuition fee depends on the Year your child goes to. Other factors, such as the exchange rate, etc., may also affect the cost. It is better to find out how much the current tuition fees are shortly before you apply.

Why is a British School popular?

The main reason students and parents choose a British School is the opportunity to learn English and school subjects at a high level, and get  prestigious, globally recognised IB Diploma or A level qualification. These are not all the benefits. The British International School,Ukraine offers its students:

  1. The possibility of enrolling students aged 3-18 years old
  2. Comprehensive child development, besides learning a foreign language.
  3. The opportunity to receive an International Baccalaureate diploma or a Ukrainian diploma of basic and complete secondary education certificate or both.
  4. Learning a foreign language with native speakers.
  5. The opportunity to enter international and Ukrainian universities.
  6. Online and in-person learning  formats are available.

Diplomas students obtain after finishing our English school empower them to enter the best universities in the UK, USA, Europe, and worldwide. They can choose any subject – history, geography, finance, economics, and so on. The diploma allows graduates to realise their full potential, as well as subsequently get a high paying job in the country where they want to live. Tuition fees at a British international school are utterly justified and numerous alumni testimonials testify to that.

How do I choose an English public school?

If you’re looking for an international educational institution with a focus on English language learning, there are a few key criteria to consider when deciding on a truly great school:

  1. You need to pay attention to the educational system. The National Curriculum for England will prove to be the best option, as it focuses not only on school disciplines, but also on the development of children’s talents, all-round education.
  2. A choice of diplomas are of great importance. The best options are IB Diploma and A levels. The possibility of obtaining a Ukrainian diploma is also important.
  3. An advantage will be the choice of schools which accept children the age of 3. Thus,from childhood they can study in a bilingual school and receive information in two languages at once – Ukrainian and English. This approach not only helps your child  learn a foreign language at the highest level, but also improve his/her memory, thinking, imagination, etc.

Our elite school offers all these advantages. Find out more on the website or contact our staff by phone

Which school is the best?

There are many prestigious international schools in Ukraine today. Not all of them guarantee a high level of knowledge. It is important who exactly teaches the foreign language or other subjects in that language. The best option is when the teacher is a native speaker, which is the case with the British International School Ukraine in Kyiv and Dnipro.

During the lessons children not only acquire the knowledge and qualifications they need, but also improve their English and their pronunciation or even get familiar with different slangs.

Questions – Answers

Tell me more about the British curriculum.

The National Curriculum for England (often called the British Curriculum) has been described as ‘The Gold Standard’. It is divided into phases or Key Stages:
Early Years Foundation Stage (Nursery and Reception – for students aged between 3 and 4 years old;
Key Stage 1 – Foundation year and Years 1 to 2 – for students aged between 5 and 7 years old;
Key Stage 2 – Years 3 to 6 – for students aged between 8 and 11 years old;
Key Stage 3 – Years 7 to 9 – for students aged between 12 and 14 years old;
Key Stage 4 (IGCSE) – Years 10 to 11 – for students aged between 15 and 16 years old;
Key Stage 5 (Sixth Form – IBDP and A- levels) – Years 12 to 13 – for students aged between 17 and 18 years old.

English, mathematics and science are complemented by a wide range of subjects which include arts, technology and humanities. The curriculum is balanced and broadly based. It promotes the spiritual, moral, cultural, mental and physical development of students at the school and of society, and prepares them for the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of later life. The curriculum is child-centred and individual needs, through differentiated learning, are prioritised. Developing independence, resilience and higher order thinking skills are key objectives. As a result of this holistic approach, graduates from British schools are highly regarded by universities and companies all around the world.

Tell me more about teachers, their qualifications and environment at BISU.

By design, BISU guarantees the majority of our international teachers are from the United Kingdom. To ensure BISU maintains an international and intercultural outlook school’s policy has been to secure the services of a small number of representative teachers from English speaking countries. All BISU teacher are fully qualified and all have post-university professional, academic qualifications. BISU has the highest expectations of its teaching team and its Teachers Standards, Performance Management and Appraisal systems all mirror those of the United Kingdom.

In what language are the lessons taught at school?

English is the language of instruction at school. All lessons are taught in English by certified native English-speaking teachers and tutors. Ukrainian curriculum is delivered by certified local teachers in Ukrainian.

Where can I study after BISU?

The international qualifications BISU students obtain are recognised and valued by the world’s best universities. This gives our graduates the opportunity to continue their education in Great Britain or choose to study anywhere in the world. Many BISU students have been accepted by the best private schools in the UK. Special attention is given to supporting and advising our senior classes to ensure they have access to the very best learning institutions; excellent results and strong academic portfolios at IGCSE and IB level have enabled BISU graduates to successfully gain admittance to prestigious universities and colleges in the UK, North America and Europe.

What is the difference between A-levels and the IB diploma?

A-levels and the IB Diploma are extremely popular qualifications and the choice for each student largely depends on his/her individual personality and aspirations.
Both are studied over 2 years however, the key difference between A-levels and the IB diploma is the IBDP takes a holistic approach with 6 subjects chosen and A levels comprise of 2-3 discrete subjects studied in greater depth. An A-level course follows the general standard of coursework and examinations, very similar to GCSEs and IGCSEs. However, the IB demands further study alongside a student’s chosen subjects. The courses are very different and so challenge and reward everyone in different ways.
It can be a difficult choice and so we would encourage students to talk with a member of our counselling team to help identify the best, individual programme for them.
