I have an under-graduate degree in Latin American Studies from the University of Portsmouth and a GTP Diploma in Primary Education from the University of Wolverhampton. After having completed my probationary year as a teacher in England, I moved to Nigeria in 2007 to work at the Children’s International School in Lagos where I met my wife. Following a brief stay in Cairo, I arrived in Kiev in November 2010 to teach within the primary sector of BISK. I have always greatly enjoyed the challenge to push children, to fulfill their great potential and look forward to this in Kiev. I strongly believe that learning should be fun but kept within the parameters of a clear level of behavior. Profile

I am originally from Barrow-in-Furness (that’s in Cumbria in the north of England, but I don’t expect you already knew that unless you are particularly fascinated by the subject of submarine production) and spent most of my career teaching overseas. I have worked in Portugal, Holland, Germany, Syria and the Emirates. My career in England generally encompassed rather less exotic locations: namely, Barking, Hackney, Romford and Wolverhampton. I was trained initially as a secondary teacher and have taught English and History to IB diploma level. My first experience of teaching upper-primary came in Berlin back in the Nineties, and I took to it right away, going on to teach year 6 in my next post, at Al-Ain English Speaking School. When the chance arose, six years ago, to return to this type of teaching at BISK I leapt at. I have never looked back, so to speak- and have thoroughly enjoyed my time here. Profile

After a successful career in financial services I decided to train to be a
teacher having obtained a BA from the Open university. I took a PGCE in
History at the University of Reading and taught in England for 6 years,
mainly History, but also Business, drawing on my previous business
experience. I then taught in Bucharest, Belgrade and Kuwait before taking up
a post at BISK. My passion is History and I strongly believe that a greater
understanding of the past will help the leaders of today make fewer
mistakes. I recently took a CELTA course which is helping me understand
students whose first language is not English.
